In Pursuit of the Impossible Segerstrom Center For The Arts - Segerstrom Hall Theatre reviews
Even better than I expected!
My friend got me the tickets for my birthday and I'm so so glad that she did! I had stopped going to concerts awhile ago, but In Pursuit of the Impossible intrigued me - Pat always seems to enjoy every single note that he sings!
Not only was the band passionate about their music, but I really enjoyed how much they made the audience feel welcome and important - it was very personal. During one song, Pat told the front row that he would take selfies if they had their phones set up, so he went along during an entire song and did just that! He also threw out some t-shirts then had the band sign the shirt he was wearing, then handed that to an audience member. Pat talked to us often, and told stories while introducing the songs. I loved when he sang a song while walking through the audience. They played older and newer stuff and even two songs that haven't been released yet. They also did three covers/tributes (Prince, The Eagles and Bowie), which was really cool and added a bit of variety to the show. Note to self: Next time get front row seats!!
I didn't know beforehand, but our tickets also included entry to the OC Fair, so that was a fun bonus afterwards. Because it was at the OC Fair, it was hard to arrive on time to find parking. Allow extra time if you're only going for the concert, and try to find a lot near the actual venue so you don't have to walk through the whole fair if you don't want to. But I would recommend arriving early enough to experience some of the fair ahead of time, just because you can! We got a treat and watched a hypnotist, then did a once around through the rides and games. It was too late to see the animals or other fair entries/displays, though.
Then, because I wasn't prepared for the Fair traffic and/or Fair entry, I missed most of the opening act, Midnight Hour :-( I hadn't heard of them before and would have liked to have heard more than two of their songs. What I heard, I liked and I will be looking for them on iTunes.
Overall, I'm glad I made it back into the concert world and because this show was so much fun, I will be looking at going to more shows in the future.
Thank you In Pursuit of the Impossible!!
